Ward Conference - Message from our Stake Leaders

Sister Mitchell:

To be more steadfast and immovable we need to do 8 things.
1. Attend Sacrament meeting
2. Attend Seminary
3. Fast with a purpose
4. Have personal prayer and family prayer
5. Do deeds of kindness
6. Pay your tithing and fast offering
7. Have clean thoughts
8. Make a commitment to get married in the temple - remain morally clean

Sister Hassler:

Do good works without being asked. The power is within you to do good.

Sister Miller:

Obedience is the key. We must do this with exactness like the Stripling Warriors. We need to use the help the Savior can give us and not try to do it all by ourselves.

Forgiving ourselves

Sunday, August 10, 2008

Today's lesson taught us all an important principle. Forgiving ourselves is an important step in the repentance process. Holding on to sins we've repented for holds us back in our spiritual progression.

Mosiah 4:2-3
2 And they had viewed themselves in their own carnal state, even less than the dust of the earth. And they all cried aloud with one voice, saying: O have mercy, and apply the atoning blood of Christ that we may receive forgiveness of our sins, and our hearts may be purified; for we believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who created heaven and earth, and all things; who shall come down among the children of men.

3 And it came to pass that after they had spoken these words the Spirit of the Lord came upon them, and they were filled with joy, having received a remission of their sins, and having peace of conscience, because of the exceeding faith which they had in Jesus Christ who should come, according to the words which king Benjamin had spoken unto them.

Repentance and forgiveness bring joy and a peace of conscience as the scripture teaches us. Sometimes it is hard to forgive ourselves. Maybe we think the sin is too bad, we're afraid, or we don't feel we have enough faith in the atonement. Whatever our reason we need to remember our Father in Heaven loves us and wants nothing more than to have us back with Him again. He has promised us that if we truly repent he will forgive us and remember our sins no more. Let us follow that example and our forgive ourselves.

Our new blog

Friday, August 1, 2008

We're starting the first ever Rock Springs Ward Young Women blog! We want this to be an interactive experience for everyone. A place to share memories and stay connected. A place to ask questions and get information.

A couple house rules first though:

1. Stay on the topic of church stuff.

2. Do not post any comments that could hurt, offend, belittle, or make anyone feel bad. This isn't the place to post frustrations about another person. That should be handled face-to-face. We want this to be an uplifting blog for everyone.

Now that the rules are out of the way let me tell you what we're going to do with this blog. We'll be posting announcements and if I can figure it out a monthly calendar. We'll be letting you know how the ward and stake youth activities have gone. We'll also be giving a short synopisis of the Sunday lessons. If you have any other suggestions for what you want to see in this blog let us know through your comments.

We're excited for this. We really hope it can keep us all connected and keep the good memories alive.
